                  North Carolina: Eastern Style with Herbs

    1      c             cider vinegar
      1/2  c             water
      2/3  c             minced onion
    1      clove         garlic
    1      t             pepper
      1/2  t             salt
    2      ts            red pepper flake
    1      t             sugar
    1                    bay leaf
      2/3  ts            thyme
    3      tb            peanut oil
    3      ts            dry mustard
    1      t             cold water
 
 1. Boil all but last two ingredients for five minutes. Dissolve mustard
 in water and add.
