4 ham hocks -- halved
2 bay leaves
1 onion -- chopped
1 bell pepper -- chopped
2 cups chopped tomatoes
1 cup tomato sauce
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon papper
salt -- to taste
*soaked overnight and drained Place beans in bottom of crock pot and add remain
ing ingredients with 1 1/2 quarts of water. Cover and cook on high 2 hours. Tur
n heat to low and cook, covered, 10 to 12 hours.
